CHECKOUT ON INSTAGRAM

Update: Live Shopping is no longer available as of March 16, 2023.

People come to Instagram to be inspired. To turn this inspiration into action, we began testing checkout on Instagram with a small number of partners, allowing people to buy products they discovered without leaving the app. We are excited to announce that in the coming weeks checkout on Instagram will be available to all eligible U.S. business and creator accounts with a Shop. Checkout on Instagram is a seamless and secure way to sell your products directly on Instagram.

Businesses can open up a Shop with checkout on Instagram using Commerce Manager, or via integration with platform partners like Shopify and BigCommerce. We will support more platform partners soon.

After enabling checkout on Instagram, businesses can enjoy benefits like reducing friction in the path to purchase and gaining access to other shopping tools, such as shopping from creators (the ability for creators to tag your products in their posts), additional ad products and signals, product launches (the ability to notify people of your upcoming launch on Instagram), and live shopping. With checkout on Instagram, businesses can truly leverage the full ecosystem of Instagram Shopping features to build experiences that drive awareness and transactions all in one place.

We also want to help reduce the cost of doing business during this tough economic time, so we’re waiving selling fees for businesses that use checkout on Instagram through the end of the year.

LIVE SHOPPING

In addition, today we’re introducing the ability for checkout-enabled businesses to sell products through Instagram Live. Live shopping lets people purchase products in real-time when they are inspired by a brand or creator’s live video content, opening up a new shoppable channel for businesses.

NEW FEATURES FOR SHOPS

In May, we introduced Shops to make it easy to set up a single online store for customers to access on Facebook and Instagram. Now, we’re announcing additional Shops features and expanding access to all businesses.

New features give businesses more control over how they brand and merchandise their shop. This includes new layouts for featuring individual or groups of products in your Shop, real-time preview of collections as you design them, and more. Finally, businesses can better measure results with new Shops insights in Commerce Manager.
