Growing a business on Instagram: Muse

BY: Instagram Business Team

San Francisco, CA

When couple Caroline Grinsted and Tobias Zeller first moved to Berlin, Germany, they decided to host a supper club in their home. Following Cuban tradition, supper clubs started as a way for people to run informal restaurants in their homes, and they quickly emerged as some of the best places to eat good food.

When we landed in Berlin, we suddenly realised that supper clubs are a good way to meet people who you didn't know and make new connections over nice food and drink.

As their supper clubs filled up week after week, Caroline and Tobias decided to expand their dinners and opened up an affordable, high-quality restaurant called Muse. With Caroline running the kitchen and Tobias manning the front-of-house, friend and Muse-regular Gigi Schwaff offered to start and run an Instagram account for the restaurant.

We started out with a table of 18 people at home, then 75 at Muse. When we started our Instagram account, that table became almost infinite.

Through appetising photos of its daily dishes, Muse quickly grew its customer base.

One of the biggest surprises with our Instagram account was to see customers come in, show us a photo from our feed and actually order the dish. It's bringing in customers and helping to grow our business.
