New: Shop Looks From Creators

BY: Instagram Business Team

San Francisco, CA

Starting next week, people will be able to shop inspiring looks from the creators they love without leaving Instagram. With the ability to tag products in their posts, creators can make it easy for people to shop their favorite styles on the spot.

People come to Instagram to keep up with their close friends. They also branch out to explore the things they care about such as art, fashion, music and entertainment, and the people behind those crafts. From public figures and artists to entrepreneurs and publishers, creators are a cornerstone of the community on Instagram. People love getting that spark of inspiration when they learn about a new skin care routine or see their favorite musician in that perfect denim jacket. And unlike seeing the jacket on a rack, when they see it on someone they look up to—or someone who looks like them—suddenly it's relatable and even attainable.

Today, creators tag the brands they are wearing, add details in the caption and respond to countless comments and DMs. With the ability to tag exactly what they're wearing, creators can get back to expressing themselves and sharing what's on their mind, which will make their followers happy too.

What I share on Instagram is a window into what inspires me, especially when it comes to my personal style. I’m constantly posting photos and videos in my favorite fashion and beauty looks because I want to share what I love with my community. My followers are always asking in comments and DM’s about what brands I’m wearing or where to buy certain pieces –shopping tags will make it so much easier to give my followers the information they’re looking for with a single tap. The days of screenshotting, saving to your camera roll, and scavenger hunting to find my go-to products are gone!

It's my job to share beauty secrets and tips. I'm usually writing long, detailed captions about the latest products I've been using. Having this tool just makes it that much easier to let everyone know what I'm wearing and from where—down to the shade.

Our audience relies on us to provide them with the latest products from brands and designers they like, and to introduce them to new ones. Discovery and the ability to drive culture forward are in our DNA, and Instagram is a vital platform for us to provide this experience to our readers. The ease of transacting provided with this update will allow us to deepen our relationship with our followers and improve their shopping experience within the platform.

No matter when people are inspired, we are committed to making the shopping experience simple, convenient and secure. This is yet another important step in our shopping journey and we'll continue to listen to feedback from our community on how we can make the experience even better.

We'll begin testing this with a small group of creators over the coming weeks. Creators in the initial test include: Aimee Song, Alissa Ashley, Alondra Ortiz, Alyssa Coscarelli, Annabelle Fleur, Ashley Strong, Blair Eadie, Brittany Xavier, Camila Coelho, Candace Parker, Chriselle Lim, Cole Carrigan, Chiara Ferragni, Dave Gilboa, Devin Brugman, Diana Saldana, Dylana Lim Suarez, Elle USA, Ellen V Lora, Gigi Hadid, GQ, Hannah Bronfman, Huda Kattan, HypeBeast, Isabel Bedoya, Jaleesa Moses, Jen Atkin, Jenny Cipoletti, Juju Smith-Schuster, Karen Gonzalez, Kathleen Fuentes, Katie Sturino, Kevin Ninh, Kimberly Drew, Kim Kardashian West, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Laura Kim, Madelynn Furlong, Mary Lawless Lee, Mona Kattan, Natalie Lim Suarez, Negin Mirsalehi, Neil Blumenthal, Nikita Dragun, Nicole Warne, Parker Kit Hill, Refinery29, Romero Jennings, Ronnie Fieg, Rosy McMichael, Stephanie Ann Shepherd, Tyler Haney, Vogue and Yovanna Ventura.

Only businesses in the shopping checkout beta will be able to use the shopping from creators feature. Creators must be using an Instagram Creator or Business Account in order to use this feature. Both creators and the brands they tag will receive shared insights within Instagram so they can better understand performance of shopping posts. For brands, this means a new way to reach an engaged audience who are actively looking to their favorite creators for inspiration, and make it easier to shop a brand's products.
